G-Cin tablets 320mg are an antibiotic medication used to treat mild to moderate bacterial infections, caused by a wide range of susceptible bacteria in various parts of the body.  G-Cin tablets 320mg are used to treat respiratory tract infections, including community acquired pneumonia, which is one of the most common serious infectious diseases, usually caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae (including multi-drug resistant strains); also acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis and Streptococcus pneumoniae and acute bacterial sinusitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis and Staphylococcus aureus.  Other non-respiratory infections that G-Cin tablets 320 is used for include uncomplicated infections of the female urinary tract like cystitis, caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli.

How does G-Cin work?

G-Cin tablets 320mg contain gemifloxacin, a synthetic broad spectrum antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone class that is used to treat various infections with antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus Enterococcus, Moraxella and Haemophilus.  Gemifloxacin works by inhibiting several bacterial enzymes (bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase) needed for the bacteria to replicate and repair its DNA.  This action of gemifloxacin in G-Cin tablets 320mg kills the bacteria by blocking its growth, which prevents spread of infection and relieves symptoms like inflammation and pain caused by the infection.  G-Cin tablets 320mg do not work against viruses which use a different mechanism to grow and replicate.
